Your data, and what happens when you uninstall
What StockDigest reads from Shopify, what it stores and for how long, what it never stores, and what’s deleted when you uninstall the app.
StockDigest stores only what it needs for the forecast and the digest: your settings, how many units of each product sold each day, and the digests it builds. It never stores orders or anything about your customers. When you uninstall, it deletes everything it holds for your store from its database.
What it reads from Shopify
StockDigest asks for read-only access to products, inventory, orders and locations, so it can’t change anything in your store. From orders it reads only the date, which products sold and how many, whether the order was cancelled or a test, and where it was fulfilled or created. It doesn’t request customer fields, prices or order totals.
Stock levels are read live from Shopify each time they’re needed. The only stock figures StockDigest keeps are the ones in saved digests.
What’s stored, and for how long
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Store details and settings: name, time zone, currency, plan and your choices in Settings | Until you uninstall |
| Your Shopify login session | Until you uninstall |
| Product overrides: low-stock level, lead time, supplier and instant alert choice | Until you remove the product, or uninstall |
| Units sold per product variant per day | 120 days, then added to monthly totals, which are kept until you uninstall |
| Units sold per variant per location per day (Pro stores with 2 or more locations) | 120 days |
| Saved digests: product, supplier and location names, links to product images, and the numbers as they were that day | 90 days on Growth, 1 year on Pro |
| The digest list: addresses you add, and whether each is waiting for confirmation, getting digests or unsubscribed | Until you remove the address, or uninstall |
| Alert records: products already alerted, and stock changes waiting to be checked | Until the product is no longer flagged, or the check runs |
| Email send records: which digest or alert went to which address | Alerts 2 days, digests 7 days |
| Locations you unticked in Settings | Until you tick them again, or uninstall |
Unsubscribing keeps an address on the list, marked Unsubscribed, so it isn’t emailed again. Removing it in Settings deletes it.
What’s never stored
- Orders.
- Customer names, email addresses, phone numbers or postal addresses. The only email addresses StockDigest keeps are the ones you add to the digest list.
The AI highlights are written from product, supplier and location names and the day’s numbers. The model never receives customer data.
When you uninstall
As soon as Shopify tells StockDigest the app was uninstalled, it deletes everything it holds for your store from its database: settings, login session, product overrides, sales history, saved digests, the digest list and alert records. Uninstalling also cancels your subscription, as explained in Plans, trial and billing. If you reinstall later, StockDigest starts fresh and imports the last 60 days of sales again.
Shopify’s data requests
Shopify passes on data requests from stores and their customers:
- A request to delete a store’s data deletes everything StockDigest holds for that store, the same as uninstalling.
- Customer data requests and customer deletion requests need no action, because StockDigest holds no customer data.
Service providers
- Shopify: the platform StockDigest runs in, and billing.
- Cloudflare: hosting, the database, background jobs, the AI model (Workers AI) and sending email.
