Ordering from suppliers: Copy order and CSV exports

Copy a supplier’s reorder amounts as text to paste into an email, or export the reorder list or every product as a CSV for Excel or Google Sheets.

Updated

StockDigest works out what to reorder and how many. Two Dashboard tools take that list to your supplier: Copy order for one supplier at a time, and two CSV exports for a spreadsheet. Both are on Growth and Pro.

StockDigest doesn’t create purchase orders or contact suppliers. Shopify doesn’t let apps create purchase orders, so you send the order yourself, by email or in a purchase order in Shopify.

Copy order

On the Dashboard, products that need attention are grouped by supplier, one table each. Under each supplier’s table that has something to reorder, there’s a Copy order button. Click it and the order is copied to your clipboard, ready to paste into an email.

It looks like this:

Order for Northfield Ceramics

45 × Ceramic Pour-Over · Speckled (SKU NC-POUR-SPK)
24 × Enamel Camp Mug · Cream (SKU NC-CAMP-CRM)
4 × Stoneware Mug · Ash

What’s in it

  • One line per product with a suggested reorder: the amount, then the product’s name.
  • The amount is the Dashboard’s Reorder column, for every listed product, including those marked Low. Stock on the way has already been taken off it.
  • The SKU in brackets, only when the product has one in Shopify.

What’s left out

  • Products with nothing to reorder. A product whose suggested reorder is 0, for example because enough is already on the way, stays in the supplier’s table but isn’t in the order. In the example, Terracotta Planter · Small is low but has a reorder of 0, so the order has three lines.
  • Suppliers with nothing to reorder get no button.
  • Products that aren’t flagged. The Dashboard only lists products that are out, run out before restock or are low, so only those can be in an order.

Products are grouped by the supplier StockDigest uses for them: the product’s Vendor field, or the supplier you set in Product overrides. See suppliers and the Vendor field.

Copy order is on the live Dashboard only, not on past digests in Digest history. Check the amounts before you send, and change them if you know something the forecast doesn’t, like a minimum order quantity.

Export to CSV

Two buttons at the top right of the Dashboard save a CSV file:

Button What’s in the file
Export reorder list The products on the Dashboard: out of stock, runs out before restock, or low. Shown when there’s at least one.
Export all products Every active product that tracks inventory (gift cards aside), with its forecast, up to 10,000 variants.

Files are named with the day, like stockdigest-reorder-2026-10-03.csv or stockdigest-all-products-2026-10-03.csv.

Columns

Column What it holds
Supplier The supplier StockDigest uses for the product. Rows are sorted by supplier.
Product “Product · Variant”, as on the Dashboard
SKU Empty when the product has none
Status Out of stock, Runs out before restock, Low, or OK
In stock Available, added up across all locations
Sells per day One decimal place
Days left Rounded down. Empty when the product isn’t selling.
On the way Shopify’s incoming quantity, 0 when nothing is on the way
Reorder The suggested reorder. Empty for products marked OK.

Products marked OK only appear in Export all products. They don’t need anything now, so their Reorder cell is empty.

The file is UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so it opens in Excel and Google Sheets with names like “Ceramic Pour-Over · Speckled” intact.

The numbers in both exports come from the same forecast as the Dashboard. See how forecasts work.

On the iPhone app (coming soon)

The iPhone & iPad app, coming soon to Pro, has a By Supplier view with Copy Order and Share.
